Insurance Company Boosts Online Enquiries

Baslow Insurance is one of the UK's most established providers of public and business insurance products.

Based in Bakewell, North Derbyshire, the company decided in 2012 to revamp its online presence and invest in an SEO campaign to drive online enquiries.

It wanted a new website design and web development partner to build a new website that would attract new customers, engage visitors, rank well on search engines and showcase its entire range of products. Its old site, which hadn’t been updated for five years, simply wasn’t up to the job.

Following an exhaustive selection process involving over 10 different web designers and web developers, the company choose Perceptant101 (http://www.perceptant101.com) to design and develop its new website and SEO campaign.

Starting with a blank sheet of paper, Perceptant101 crafted a unique one-off design that was instantly approved by Baslow Insurance. It then constructed the site using HTML5 to offer simple but effective navigation and instant access to the company’s products and services. Perceptant101 applied its expertise in search engine optimisation (SEO) to make sure the site would feature prominently in web search results.

Both Baslow Insurance and its customers are delighted with the new website, which has received numerous commendations from users. The site ranks well on Google and is attracting an increased volume of visitors – in fact, it generates over 200% more new enquiries than the company’s previous website did.

Game, set and match for PHPFox powered social network

Max Hastings, Head of Junior Tennis at the world famous Queens Club in London, wanted to provide the tennis community with their own social networking platform – one that would include all the functionality of Facebook to connect players and fans.

Max had tried numerous companies which promised to deliver the site, but each of these had ground to a halt and failed to complete the project. He asked Perceptant 101, the award winning website designers and web developers, based in Sheffield, to build a site that would include everything for an interactive tennis community, from breaking news, player Twitter feeds and video to tournament updates, live scores and training tips.

Perceptant 101 used the PHPFox social network platform to develop the Social Tennis Networking site, creating a unique theme for the community that fitted well with the client’s branding. It integrated news feeds from the ATP World Tour news site, as well as live scores for all the ATP World Tour tournaments and Twitter updates from players. Google Maps API was also integrated into the site, so members can search a world map to find other tennis fans and players, and arrange to meet up and play a match.

Perceptant 101 delivered the live site within three weeks of being contacted by Max, and it’s now working on more enhancements and marketing for the site.

Social Tennis Networking has already attracted a community of members from across the world, as well as drawing interest from retailers wanting to advertise on the network.

Model behaviour from rebuilt WordPress website

wordpress experts
Model Ruth Crilly’s well-known website A Model Recommends is a popular place for fashion and beauty tips. But when the WordPress site was hacked it displayed far from model behaviour and started redirecting people to virus-ridden websites. Ruth called in Perceptant 101 to rebuild it.
A thorough investigation of the site determined how much damage the hacker had done and what content could be saved. Perceptant 101 then moved the hosting of the site to its own dedicated servers and hardened the server configuration so it would be more resilient to hacking attempts. A robust backup system was also established, to make sure content couldn’t be lost in the future.
Perceptant 101 then reinstalled the WordPress content management system and upgraded it to the latest version. A thorough cleansing removed all malicious code from the content files before the freshly scrubbed WordPress theme was reinstalled and all the archive content imported.
Restored to its former beauty, the rebuilt website is now functioning with a grace worthy of the catwalk. And beneath its stylish exterior it’s also a model of resilience against future attacks.
